Description

Blue spruce trees (Picea pungens) are evergreen conifers native to the Rocky Mountains in North America. They are commonly grown as ornamental trees in gardens and parks, and are also used for Christmas trees. They are known for their bright blue-green needles, which are stiff and have a distinctive smell when crushed. They also have a waxy texture to young branches.

Blue spruce trees can grow up to 60-80 feet tall and 25-40 feet wide, with a conical shape and a dense crown. They prefer well-drained soils and full sun, but are adaptable to a range of growing conditions. They are cold-hardy and can tolerate temperatures as low as -40°F. They are relatively slow-growing and long-lived, with a lifespan of 50-150 years. Blue spruce trees are susceptible to pests such as needle-cast, spider mites, and bagworms, as well as diseases like root rot, needle blight, and Cytospora canker.

They are fast growing trees and can quickly help to absorb CO2 emissions. If you sponsor a blue spruce tree it will planted and named to whoever you dedicate it to.
