Description

Fir trees (Abies spp.) are coniferous evergreen trees that are native to temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere. There are over 40 species of fir, but some of the most common include:

Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea)
Noble Fir (Abies procera)
Fraser Fir (Abies fraseri)

Fir trees can grow to be over 200 feet tall, with a narrow, conical crown and a straight trunk. The leaves are needle-like, usually blue-green or green, and arranged in a spiral pattern along the branches. The bark is smooth and gray or brown, with conspicuous resin blisters. The cones are large and cylindrical, usually hanging downward, and are highly ornamental.

Fir trees prefer moist soils and full sun, but are adaptable to a range of growing conditions, including wetter soils and partial shade. They are generally hardy and resistant to pests and diseases, but can be susceptible to problems such as fir needle rust, root rot, and insect infestations. Fir trees are valued for their fast growth, fragrant needles and cones, and their use as Christmas trees. Fir trees are propagated by seed, cuttings, or tissue culture, and can be grown in containers or in the ground.

The fir tree stands tall and provides much habitat to the small creature we don’t often see. If you sponsor a fir tree it will planted and named to whoever you dedicate it to.

After your purchase we will send you the precise location of your tree and a certificate for you via email.

Please note that we send everything via email to avoid adding to the carbon footprint of regular post and polluting the atmosphere.
